Blow Out and Panning

I created the blowout effect by bringing up my iso to 200 and having the shutter speed at 1/15 of a second. Another way that i could of done this would of been to make my aperture whole bigger making the background blurry and just showing my partner. Panning is when everything is blurry and the main subject is in focus. The picture should have a blurry background which it does but my partner should not be as blurry. I do not think i did i really good job at this, because my partner is to blurry. My settings where set at iso 400 an aperture of f8 and shutter speed at 1/13 of a second. I could of changed the speed of the shutter to make the picture look better, and the movement is what made panning difficult.

Aperture

Aperture is the size of the whole that light comes trough when you take a picture, it can be compared to the pupil of the human eye. You can open it and close it as much as you would desire. The aperture in the bottom imagine is f3.2 which is a big whole, witch as you can see blurs out the background making the image stick out. In the top picture it has an aperture of f22 which is a smaller whole and gives the picture a bigger depth of field and does not blur the background.

ISO

ISO 5000

ISO 400

ISO 50

FLASH

ISO refers to the film speed, and how sensative the film/pixels are to light. The difference in my photos is that with flash the person came out bright and clear. With ISO 50 it became a little brighter but you could still not see my partner good. With ISO 400 it becomes brighter and you could see my partner but its a little grany, and in ISO 5000 there is way more light just that it is super grany and blurry. Over the course of the pictures it shows more light but as it shows more light and you bring the ISO up it becomes more blurry. When you would like to see lights of some kind behind your subject like christman light, if you would of used flash you would see your subject but not the lights. You have to be careful not to let to much light in when using ISO.

Flash

The pros for using flash are flash adds light, and eliminates blur; the cons are that it may disturb your subject, it will give you ugly lighting, and the background will be darker. It would be a good idea to use flash when most people wouldn't use it, during the day. If u used it during the day flash will elimate all shadows on your subject and the picture will come out better. It would't be a good idea to use flash when you would want to see you colors, because with flash your colors go away. The picutre that I choosed is better because flash was not used, if flash would of been used the background would look darker and you wouldn't be able to see the lights as clear as they are.

Metering

A light meter tells the camera where to read the light from. In the two pictures we put the light meter in diffiredn places, in the first we told the light meter to meter the screen and it did that is why you can see the screen very good and not my partner. In the second picture we told the camera to meter my partner and that is why you can see her better than in the first picture. Spot metering can help when you would like something to be in focus, and with more light.
